How do I ship my hard drive?

It is extremely important your hard drive is packaged carefully to avoid any additional damage during shipment.
When recovering from RAID, we may need you to send the controller along with the drive. Please remove the controller carefully, enclose in an anti-static material and ship along with the drive.

Shipping instructions

  1. To ship a BARE hard drive: Remove and retain all brackets, mounting screws and interface adapters unless otherwise instructed.
  2. To ship the WHOLE unit (external enclosure, laptop, etc.) include all needed accessories and software (like power adapters, cables, driveres, controllers, etc.)
  3. Preferable packaging: Place the drive inside an anti-static or wrap in aluminum foil. Suspend the unit in the center of a sturdy box of foam or bubble wrap around all sides.
  4. We recommend to ship hard drives via air service to minimize handling such as UPS Express or UPS Expedited services, although you may ship via the carrier of your choice.
  5. Include a printed copy of your order in the package along with your failed hard drive and ship to.
  6. Shipping address:

Hitachi HTS548040M9AT00 40 GB laptop

From Customer's order

Drive makes CLICKING sound. Got an error message stating "I/O hardware failure". Tried to reboot. Got message stating that the Registry was bad. Then it did a physical memory dump. Then I tried to restart the computer and got a message about a disk read error. Also, I cannot connect it as an external drive either. No recovery attempts other than trying to connect it as an external USB drive. The drive was not opened. It has all original parts. No recovery attempts made.

After recovery:

Thank you very much for all of the help
Thanks,
Michael
